The Wand Hints/Walkthrough Note: You will probably want to write down a list of the wand combinations as you learn them. HERE WE GO: ** When you enter the Entry Chamber, anything you touch will shock you, except the wand. Type USE WAND. ** Point the wand at the statue (P STATUE) and wait until it finishes explaining the situation. ** Set the wand to red-white-brown (RWN) and point it at the door. ** In the Reception Room, the door is barred, so you need to deal with the slate bar. Look around the room for clues. ** Set the wand to orange-brown-purple (ONP) and point it at the bar. Then set it to red-white-brown (RWN) and point it at the door. ** You can also animate the portrait (RGB). Remember that for later. ** The Dark Hall is too dark to do anything, but you can go west to the Dining Hall or east to the Library. Go to those rooms and look around. ** In the Library, open the large book (RWN), and read the fable carefully. ** The fable suggests the combination gray-blue-black (ABK). Go to the Dark Hall and use that combination to light the chandelier. ** You can animate the three portraits (RGB). Note that the boy says the beginnings of words, and the matron says the ends of words. ** You need to synchronize the boy and the matron. Try this: RGB P BOY WAIT P MATRON ** Now you can open the door in the Dining Hall. First fix the door (YOO). ** Look around at everything in the Kitchen. ** Fix the ceramic shards (YOO). ** Animate the figurine (RGB). ** Now go back to the Library, open the desk (RWN), and use the key (RKO). Open the door (RWN). ** In the Hallway, go north past the dragon. ** Look around the Dungeon. Examine the straw. ** Levitate the flagstone (ONP). Then examine it. ** Try the new combination on yourself, like so: OGA P ME ** Go to the Pantry. ** Open the cupboard (RWN). Note, there's a piece of paper attached to the other side of the lattice door. ** Teleport yourself (OGA). Then go back to the Kitchen and examine the paper. ** Go to the Gallery and animate the young lady portrait, then translate it: RGB P LADY PAB P LADY ** Go to the Hallway and teleport the dragon (OGA). Examine the rug. ** According to the young lady, the combination on the rug should be changed to black-green-purple (KGP). ** Go to the Dining Hall. Remember the portrait that was in the Reception Room. ** Light the unlit candles (ABK), then extinguish the fourth candle (KGP). You will see a message with a partial clue. ** Go to the library and translate the small book (PAB). You can combine that clue with the one in the Dining Room. ** The "magnify" combination is green-white-red (GWR). ** Go to the Pantry (you might have to open the lattice door), open the cupboard, and magnify the jar (GWR). ** Now you'll need to make ring soup. ** Open the cookbook (RWN) for the recipe. ** Open the stove (RWN), then use the coal scoop (RKO), then light the stove (ABK). ** Use the knife (RKO), then use the spatula (RKO). ** Wait until the baltavakia ball starts to spark, then turn off the stove (KGP). ** If the baltavakia ball explodes, you can try again. ** Note the colors of the rings in the soup. ** Now go to the Library and extinguish the fire (KGP). Then examine the fireplace for the last part of the clue. ** Combining all that information, you get the combination brown-white-black (NWK). ** Go to the Hallway. Then reduce your weight and go north, like so: NWK P ME NORTH ** Take a look around the East Tower. ** Magnify the banner (GWR). Now you know the sequence you need for the scale. ** You need to manipulate the kimpert and the rock in order to get the correct weight sequence on the scale. You can play around until you get it, or follow these commands: RWN P CAGE (to release the kimpert) ABK P BRAZIER ONP P ROCK NWK P KIMPERT OGA P KIMPERT KGP P BRAZIER ONP P ROCK WAIT WAIT ABK P BRAZIER ** Now there should be a paintbrush on the floor. Fix it (YOO), then use it (RKO). ** Animate the painting (RGB). ** Now you can return to the Entry Chamber, get rid of the portcullis (KPK), and leave. ** You made it out and got a prize! (Now try starting over, and see if you can finish the game in just five turns!) Thanks for playing!
