From: whizzard@uclink.berkeley.edu (Gerry Kevin Wilson) Newsgroups: rec.arts.int-fiction,rec.games.int-fiction Subject: [Contest] ANNOUNCING THE RESULTS! Date: 2 Dec 1996 21:21:43 GMT Howdy, howdy, howdy: First of all, it's been a great year for the competition. A whole slew of entries, and most of them really good. We had some really bizarre entries, which I always love to see, and we had a good voter turnout (60 votes, 8 of which were for the Miss Congeniality vote.) Promoted! was the only game that did not receive enough votes to qualify for prize competition, presumably due to its choice of OS. I haven't done the prize picks yet, preferring instead to get this posted as soon as possible. SPAG 10 will contain those, as well as interviews with some of the authors, and all the other usual rigamarole. If you want to submit game reviews (contest entries only) now's the time. Reprints of opinions posted to r.g.i-f are perfectly acceptable, but I may ask you to spruce up things or something. When writing out the results, I may have forgotten an alias that someone used or something of that nature, so I'll apologize in advance. I'll email their scores to the authors, but other than that I believe that the scores might just set some folks fretting about how close they were, blah blah blah, so no public posting of scores, just the raw place finishes. I had a blast, guys. I hope next year's competition is half as good. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Anyways, without further ado, here are the 1996 Interactive Fiction Competition Results! =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= 1st Place: The Meteor, The Stone, And A Long Glass Of Sherbet by: Angela M.
