Subject: [Comp98] Early Contest Post Date: 23 Feb 98 08:24:29 +1100 From: ddyte@vaxc.cc.monash.edu.au (David Dyte) Organization: Computer Centre, Monash University, Australia Newsgroups: rec.arts.int-fiction,rec.games.int-fiction As you may have read, Whizzard has passed on the torch of contest organiser to a new sucker (er, volunteer). And the new organiser is me. So consider this the first official post on the topic of the 1998 Interactive Fiction Competition. In my capacity as organiser, you can mail me at this address or ddyte@cricket.org with any messages you may feel I urgently require. This year's competition will have a timetable roughly the same as in 1997, mail me by September 1 (end of September 1 all round the world- so late on September 2 here in Australia) to register your intent to enter, and mail me your games by September 30. Obviously I'll repeat this announcement closer to the time. There have been a lot of posts about various rule suggestions- there will be some minor rule changes, in consultation with Whizzard. Nothing too drastic- certainly NOT two divisions or compulsory source code uploads. I'll post an announcement when the revised rules hit the competition web site. Now I'll keep quiet a while, - David Dyte
