Section 20 - Frozen Tundra

The Frozen Tundra is a room.

Northeast of the Desolate Beach is the Frozen Tundra.

Description of the Frozen Tundra is "This is the northern most reach of the land of Lost, beyond here lies permanent snow plains leading eventually to the pole. It is devoid of trees, and only stunted grass grows on top of frozen subsoil. A harsh wind whips across the landscape."

Inside the Frozen Tundra is a woolly mammoth.

The woolly mammoth is an animal.

Instead of examining the woolly mammoth for the first time:

Say "A woolly mammoth towers above you, it must be 3 metres tall at it shoulder. It has long brown and black shaggy fur over a distinctly chubby body and trunk. It has huge curved tusks. It seems friendly. Dylan bounds over and the mammoth gently strokes his head with it's trunk."

Description of woolly mammoth is "A woolly mammoth towers above you, it must be 3 metres tall at it shoulder. It has long brown and black shaggy fur over a distinctly chubby body and trunk. It has huge curved tusks. It seems friendly."

Instead of taking woolly mammoth:

Say "You grab one of the legs of the mammoth and pull, nothing happens. The mammoth snorts down its trunk and looks down at you with bemusement before wrapping it hairy trunk around you in a soft embrace."

The trunk is part of the mammoth.

Description of trunk is "Despite being very long, fat and hairy, the trunk moves with grace and the end of it is as dextrous as a human thumb and finger."

The tusks are part of the mammoth.

Understand "tusk" as tusks.

Description of tusks is "The huge tusks are at least 2.5 meters long and they spiral in opposite directions from their base and continue in a curve until the tips point towards each other."

Instead of smelling the Frozen Tundra:

Say "The air is icy cold in your nostrils with the faint odour of mammoth."

Instead of listening to the Frozen Tundra:

Say "You can hear the wind whipping across the landscape, and the occasional movement or snorting of the mammoth."

Long hair is an object.

Long hair is nowhere.

Printed name of long hair is "a ridiculously long hair".

Description of long hair is "A 2 metre long brown and black mammoth hair, it is slightly greasy to the touch."

Instead of stroking the mammoth for the first time:

Say "You approach the mammoth and gingerly reach out a hand to stroke it. Its luxurious long hair feels soft and slightly greasy. The mammoth sniffs your head with its trunk, you feel its warm steamy breath. A single long strand of hair comes out of its coat and you pocket it.";

Move long hair to the player.

Instead of stroking the mammoth:

Say "You approach the mammoth and gingerly reach out a hand to stroke it. Its luxurious long hair feels soft and slightly greasy. The mammoth sniffs your head with its trunk, you feel its warm steamy breath."

Instead of talking to the mammoth:

Say "The mammoth listens to you politely, and swings its trunk in a thoughtful manner. It's a shame that the only animals that can talk on the planet of Everything are pigeons and bats! The gods have a cruel sense of humour."

Understand "pet [something]" as stroking.
